Sustainability Strategy

HDRE takes a proactive stance on the risks and challenges posed by climate change. Our ongoing goal is to achieve a "Smart Green, Accessible Green" future, focusing on long-term and systematic planning. We embed a deep-rooted sustainability spirit within our corporate culture, investing in smart green power services and renewable energy development to generate positive social and environmental impacts.

We have expanded into solar and wind power generation while progressively planning for aquavoltaics, energy storage, and supercharging markets for electric vehicles. Through our three main business units—power development, asset management, and smart electricity services—we have successfully transitioned into a "Smart Green Energy Enterprise." Our rapid growth in the green energy sector demonstrates our commitment to expanding the use of green energy as a response to the threat of global warming. At the same time, we uphold principles of transparent governance, openly disclosing performance and progress at each stage, showcasing our unwavering commitment to sustainable development while generating profits for the Company.

Our goal is to offer solutions to society through smart green energy services and renewable energy development, ensuring sustainable profitability while taking responsibility for the environment and society. We will continue our efforts to drive sustainable development and create a better future for all.

Since its founding in 2016, HDRE has been on a mission to create a better future. We remain deeply committed to addressing climate change and global warming by ensuring that our business operations do not harm the environment. By offering diverse net-zero solutions, we aim to amplify our impact on sustainability.

In recent years, alongside the global challenges of climate change, HDRE has turned its attention to biodiversity. Recognizing the inextricable link between species extinction and environmental pollution, we are actively working to prevent biodiversity loss. In response to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, HDRE Chairman Yuan-Yi Hsieh formally signed and approved the company's "Biodiversity Policy" just before the 2024 New Year.

According to the Convention on Biological Diversity, biodiversity encompasses all life on Earth—including plants, animals, microorganisms, and their ecosystems—capable of coexisting within ecological networks. If no action is taken, authoritative environmental scientists warned more than three years ago in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that human activities are accelerating the planet toward a sixth mass extinction, with millions of species at risk.

Guided by this policy, HDRE pledges to avoid development in areas recognized domestically or internationally for their rich biodiversity. We uphold our core values of sustainable operation and harmonious coexistence with nature, setting a goal to achieve zero net deforestation and zero net loss, aiming for a net positive impact on biodiversity by 2050.

Beyond environmental initiatives, HDRE has also adopted a "Human Rights Policy" and plans to launch a "Human Rights Due Diligence" program in 2024, further aligning with the SDGs and our commitment to sustainable development.

HDRE places significant importance on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations in 2015, which aim to address the global environmental, social, and economic crises. We regard the SDGs as our blueprint and integrate ESG principles into our operational strategies. By consolidating internal and external corporate resources, we are committed to continuous innovation and progress, working to build a sustainable future characterized by ecological friendliness, social inclusion, and economic growth.

As 2024 approaches, global climate governance is entering a more critical phase. Simultaneously, we are facing the continuous challenge of COVID-19 mutations and spread. The COP28 climate summit at the end of 2023 once again highlighted the urgency of action in response to high carbon emissions, the depletion of natural resources, and the exacerbation of poverty and inequality, making the pursuit of a sustainable future more critical than ever. Guided by the SDGs, HDRE integrates the principles of sustainable development into our operational strategies, ensuring that we are prepared to meet these challenges head-on. By consolidating internal and external corporate resources, we foster continuous innovation and progress, aiming to create an environmentally friendly ecosystem, promote social inclusion, and achieve sustainable economic growth. We believe that these efforts will help us build a sustainable future, enabling us to address global challenges and make a positive contribution.

文章摘要
Greenhouse Gas Management
In 2022, we conducted a comprehensive inventory of our carbon emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3, with totals of 93.4242tCO2e, 119.2747tCO2e, and 129.8187tCO2e, respectively. Our target for 2022 was a 1% reduction in carbon emissions, and we successfully exceeded this goal with a 17.7% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The usage of renewable energy accounted for 4.82% of our total energy consumption, with a total usage of 29,050 kWh.
Future Targets:
Achieve net-zero carbon emissions at our Taipei HQ by 2025. Achieve net-zero carbon emissions across all offices in Taiwan by 2030.
Water Management

Advanced Seminar on Practical Issues for Directors and Supervisors (including Independent Directors) and Corporate Governance Officers—An Introduction to Corporate Control and Commercial Dispute Law In 2022, a full inventory was not conducted because our aquavoltaics site, owned by HDRE, only began operations in February 2023. The large demand for aquaculture water is primarily sourced from nearby drainage ditches, with wastewater being collected in proprietary reservoirs for water quality cultivation and reuse. This process ensures water conservation and eliminates wastewater discharge issues.
Future Water Management Goals:Our water conservation efforts are guided by the following four major axes: 1. Enhance water resource recycling by utilizing water-saving equipment in offices and photovoltaic sites. 2. Introduce a water resource recycling system at aquavoltaics sites, collecting and reusing rainwater and cleaning wastewater. 3. Continue to implement new technologies for recycling aquaculture water resources. 4. Implement automated water-saving cleaning processes at all sites.
Waste Management
We have established a comprehensive waste management policy, including the formulation of solar panel recycling policies and standards for recycling, reuse, or disposal. We have established a comprehensive waste management policy, which includes developing solar panel recycling policies and standards for recycling, reuse, or disposal. We also manage the lifecycle of solar panels by planning their expected lifespan, conducting regular inspections, and performing maintenance to reduce the generation of waste solar panels. These measures help to minimize environmental impact and enhance HDRE’s competitive edge. To date, we have achieved 100% compliance reviews and contract signings with waste disposal contractors, and we have fully met our goals for increasing the reuse rate of construction materials and steel molds.
Future Targets:
We will continue researching methods for recycling and reusing solar panels, with the objective of establishing a circular economy in the solar panel industry.
As of January 2024, HDRE has obtained ISO 14064-1: 2018, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 certifications, and we plan to obtain ISO 50001 certification for energy management in the second quarter of 2024.
