HDRE is committed to the pursuit of social well-being, focusing on creating local co-prosperity in all its operational locations.
In recent years, the government has actively promoted the policy of "Fisheries First, Enhanced by Green Energy." In response to this policy, HDRE has developed various aquavoltaics (fisheries and solar co-existence) projects. Since 2021, HDRE has fully considered the balance between photovoltaic engineering and aquaculture development during the construction phase. This includes incorporating various management regulations, photovoltaic technologies, and maintenance plans to achieve the goal of symbiotic and prosperous development with the local community.
From site selection and design to construction and operation, HDRE has conducted environmental and social audits, analyzing the benefits and impacts to ensure the harmonious development of green energy and ecology. The company respects the wishes of local communities and safeguards the rights and interests of fishermen.
In 2022, HDRE's Riyun project site in Qigu, Tainan, became the first privately organized and government-approved aquavoltaics project in Taiwan. The project took into consideration the nearby bird habitats, and a 5.8-hectare protected area was specially planned for migratory bird nesting, while also preserving rare plants in the local mangroves.
Additionally, during the construction phase, the project created 100 local job opportunities. Before the official operation, HDRE began recruiting local fishermen to join the aquaculture team, achieving a win-win-win scenario for environmental ecology, fishermen's livelihoods, and green energy generation, setting a positive example for future projects.
Embedding Culture for Sustainable Co-Prosperity
In business development, beyond achieving a threefold win in ecology, livelihoods, and power generation, HDRE also emphasizes enriching the cultural fabric of society.
As a result, HDRE has long supported cultural and artistic endeavors. Even during the severe pandemic over the past two years, the Company continued to invest resources in the arts. HDRE has consistently sponsored the "Formosa 3D Association," equipping the association's 3D mobile cinema with solar-powered technology, allowing the cinema to store energy from the sun and screen films for children in remote areas. These films deliver the inspiring stories of Taiwan's everyday heroes and showcase the beauty of Taiwan through 3D imagery.
Due to this long-term support for cultural development, HDRE was honored with the "Cultural Sustainability Award" at the Ministry of Culture’s Wenxin Awards in 2023.
